Faculty Spotlight

Lynne Bailey
Program Director
Ed D: University of Central Florida

Lynne BaileyLynne Bailey is the Dean of the School of Education at American Public University System. Dean Bailey holds an Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida as well as a M.Ed. with a focus in English Education and curriculum integration. She comes to APUS with several years experience as a public school, National Board Certified language arts teacher and as a teacher educator at the university level. During her tenure in the public school system, Dr. Bailey developed school library collections that integrated content standards from the Florida middle grades language arts and social studies curriculum.

In addition to her work in teaching, Dr. Bailey has presented at national and international conferences and has published her research in books and in recognized academic journals including Research in Middle Level Education Online, Educational Forum, and Middle School Journal. Service contributions have extended beyond the university to include collaboration with North Carolina school districts in the areas of gifted education, differentiating instruction, and developing and sustaining cultures of literacy in the middle school. Dr. Bailey both supports and participates in the work of national education organizations, most notably the American Association for Teaching and Curriculum, for which she served as Conference Program Chair. Most recently, Dr. Bailey was appointed AATC Executive Secretary. She resides in Charles Town, WV.
