Faculty Spotlight

Brian Blodgett
Program Director
Ph.D.: Northcentral University

Dr. Brian Blodgett

Dr. Brian Blodgett is a graduate from AMU and has a MA in Military Studies - Land Warfare. He has taught for APUS since 2000; first as an adjunct and now as a full professor. He also has MS in Strategic Intelligence and PhD with a concentration in Homeland Security.

He joined the Ohio National Guard in 1981 and the regular Army in 1987 as an E-3, by 1996 he was an E-7. In 1996 he became a warrant officer and he retired from the military in 2006.

As a career soldier who earned both of his master’s degrees and finished over 80 percent of his PhD while on active duty, he understands the need to balance education, work, and family requirements (he has three children - two in college). Because he has a family (his wife, Melissa, teaches special education), he understands the issues that non-military members face each and every day.

Brian is also the Program Director for the Undergraduate History, Military History, and Military Studies classes and he teaches courses in all three disciplines in the program.
